  • 8 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: There is also the issue of contempt of court. Most of the time, you will find that people in this country do things contrary to what the courts have decided. It is very important - but I am not saying that they should interfere with parliamentary business. In fact, I would strongly object to that. They should never, at any one time, give orders that they know will never be realized. That is because we do not act in vain. But where the litigants are ordinary people – and I believe that the sanctity of the orders of the courts ... view
  • 8 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: Having said all that, the other issue which is very important is the introduction of giving evidence through other means other than physical appearance. We should join the 21st Century and also automate and have televised cross-examination wherever somebody is sued so that it can save time and money. view
  • 8 Oct 2015 in National Assembly: With those few remarks, I support the Bill. Thank you. view
  • 27 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, I would also like to join my colleagues in congratulating the Members for the good job they have done. I am sure when we come back, we will do even more. I would also like to congratulate our athletes, as my colleagues have done before me. Specifically, I would like to congratulate David Rudisha for the good job he has done. I would like to ask Athletics Kenya to scout for new talent all over the country because I think we have a big resource of talent. The electronic version of the Official Hansard Report ... view

  • 27 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: The other important thing as we go on recess is that we should be people who preach peace. I would like to request my colleagues, especially from the pastoralist areas, to ensure they continue with peace caravans so that we can also play a big role in the development of this country. On the issue of the constitutional deadline for some Bills - I am speaking as an authority as the Vice-Chairperson of the CIOC - I would like to assure Kenyans that the delay has nothing to do with Parliament. In fact, those Bills came when we had less ... view

  • 6 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, I object to this amendment because this is a civil offence. If we import provisions from criminal jurisdiction into such activities, it will be a dangerous precedent. We should object to it. view
  • 5 Aug 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I would like to join my colleagues who have supported the Bill. I support it. I believe that no law should operate in a vacuum. We made the Constitution to serve us. The issues that have been raised by the Members here are pertinent and make sense. August is not a convenient month and I support that. We have spoken about the issue of our academic term, tourism and the budgetary cycles, and these are very important issues. When you look at the economic aspect, the Budget takes us through the year and we ... view
  • 2 Jul 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady, I am a Member of the Committee and I would like to support my Chair. If you have different standards for different counties, definitely, you are going to compromise on the standards and the safety of the water that the Kenyan people will drink. So, it is important that it is standardised and there is an upper authority that ensures that this is adhered to. view
