  • 26 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, hold on. Please protect me so that I can make my point. In this House, we are privileged to raise issues pertaining to certain critical issues without damaging the credibility of certain individuals by stating the facts correctly. If you go to the letter which Hon. Matiang’i wrote, he says: “The procedure of acquisition is well within your purview.” This was information that Matiang’i was telling Swazuri. view

  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: I wanted to mitigate this point this way. Actually, for us in the BAC, the issue that we raised was very simple. Yes, this money was allocated for schools and yet, indeed, we had expected the money to be allocated pro-rata to every school or to every constituency. What we discovered is that some of this amount of money was just going to certain schools and other schools were not getting the money. So, we felt it would create a disadvantage for others when others were getting the advantage. That is the reason why we felt that it was a ... view

  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I would like to raise this issue with my colleagues in this House. Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, if possible, I would like you to make a ruling. It seems like it is a habit for chairs of committees not to be in this House. view
  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. My colleagues in this House are not even aware. I am sure they have not even looked at what is in these Estimates and yet the job of this House is to legislate. Our major responsibility in this House is to oversee budgeting. All committee chairpersons are not in this House. It is really heart-breaking because this House is where money that will go to our counties and constituencies is allocated and yet when you look around, committee chairpersons are not here. view
  • 7 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to also mention a few things about this flight. Last weekend on Sunday, I happened to travel to Kitale with Hon. Moses Kuria. That is the flight we were supposed to use on return. All the flights were full. I know many Members of this House may not know that Kitale Airstrip is one of the busiest airstrips in the Republic of Kenya. Indeed, like Hon. Chris Wamalwa has said, the problem with what happened in this accident worries many of us. Many of our colleagues, in ... view
  • 7 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: we have been having about the Budget. Some of us travel because we go for holidays. Others were travelling back to Nairobi to take their children to school. As many of the colleagues have stated, it is true that disaster management systems in this country leave a lot to be desired. Very fortunately, Members of this House, particularly the Committees which are involved, have the capacity of putting resources together so that we are able to have disaster preparedness in case there is an emergency. Unfortunately, in Kenya, what happens is that once an incident like this happens, everything ends ... view
  • 28 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. As the Member of Parliament for Kitutu Chache South, I would like to thank His Excellency the President Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta, for appointing this individual who is highly qualified. I know Mr. Omenge. For many of you in this House who may not know where Cardinal Otunga High School is, that is where he comes from. I would also like to thank the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Mbiuki, my minister, a man I highly respect because I served with him in the coalition Government. Thank you so much for everything you have ... view
