  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, competition is natural. Children go to school for the purposes of preparing for life. As young people grow, they compete in all aspects. In fact, as you watch our children grow, you notice that they compete in simple things like running, playing marbles, in age and height. Therefore, it is natural for us to compete. As we grow older, we still compete. In fact, competition among older people is in terms of the amount of money available in their bank accounts, the size of house one lives in, the types of cars they drive, among other ... view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: enrolled for a better course at the university. Cheating is not caused by ranking of schools or students. It is caused by the desire for good grades. People cheat to get better grades, and not to be ranked as number one. What is the solution to cheating? Instead of arguing for scraping of ranking of schools, let us tackle the problem through improvement of examination administration by the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). There are weaknesses in the administrative systems of the Council. Examination supervisors and invigilators are part of the problem as far as examination administration is concerned. Therefore, ... view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Even former President Moi, who is a politician of high ranking, has come out in the open and said that we have to rank schools. Since we know that Jubilee is a rebirth of the Kenya African National Union (KANU), it is important that we support school ranking because our professor of politics has said that we should do so. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Finally, there was ranking in Kajiado Central Constituency. I am thankful that the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) was ranked number one, while the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) was ranked number last. view
  • 18 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, with those remarks, I beg to support ranking. view

  • 4 Mar 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you very much, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for recognising my new position. I just want to thank my colleague and friend, hon. Kaluma for this kind of Bill. This is actually why we are in this House. I just want to thank him and say that this is timely and the rest of us should emulate and come up with such Bills. view
  • 10 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker for this opportunity. I want to support that list because of many reasons. One of them is that we have been out for three months and I do not want to be out for another six months because I think there is a lot of business that needs to be done. I want to say that the Leader of Majority Party has ably scared some of us who came in with the intention of rejecting the list. However, I also want to say that there are one or two names that people seem to have issues ... view
  • 10 Feb 2015 in National Assembly: sure that we give all Members an opportunity to serve this nation because that is why we are here. Finally, I take this opportunity on my own behalf and that of the people of Kathiani Constituency to send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late George Muchai who was our colleague, and the families of the bodyguards and the driver. I request that we be patient because I hope the Government is going to do what is necessary so that the criminals are brought to justice. May the good Lord rest his soul in eternal peace. I support ... view
  • 27 Nov 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I support this amendment considering that now we are allowing the Cabinet Secretary, by regulation, to determine the number of persons that are supposed to be accommodated within each given space. I think it is a good amendment. I want to just point out that in Machakos Police Station recently or about a year ago, there was a case where individuals had been put in with hardcore criminals and one of them pulled out a gun. This will go a long way in ensuring that people who are held for minor offences like traffic ... view
