For the benefit of this country, it is high time we, as leaders, and others inculcated a culture of saving for our own future. Instead of people getting what are clearly handouts they should, from the time they begin working, join a contributory pension scheme so that they can retire based on their contributions and the contribution of their employers. view

• 26 May 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I also rise to support this particular Report. I am happy that the Committee members exhibited competence during mediation. Indeed, they have set a good precedent on what is going to be the trend whenever issues arise between the National Assembly and the Senate. I am also happy that they were able to comply with the timelines that the law has set. I hope others that are going through the same process will borrow from what this Committee has done. • 22 Apr 2015 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I wish to draw the attention of the House to the first proposed amendment by my colleague, hon. Maanzo on deletion of recommendations one, two and three. People are focussing on the intended replacement clause rather than where the issue is. As my learned senior has well articulated, Article 251 requires this House to simply make a decision as to whether to send the Petition to the President or not. Therefore, I oppose the amendment and advise my brothers and sisters in this House that it is not viable. It cannot stand and it must be rejected. view

There were a lot of consultations and then the Mover delved into the details of the amendment before clearly indicating the contents and the wording of the amendment.
