Is the speaker, my dear friend Millie, in order to suggest that the people of the lake are lazy and just wait for the fish? It is a very tedious exercise; people go to the lake at 3.00 a.m. in the morning to go and fish. I have never known that to be a very lazy way of collecting fish. view

However, on the issue of Turkana Central, I want to ask what the Government is doing in respect of the illegal dam that Ethiopia is building across the Omo River which will stop water from flowing into Lake Turkana. Damming the river is against the Nile Treaty and every other treaty. It suppresses the riparian rights. What is the Government of Kenya doing to protect our people in Turkana and ensure the continued existence of Lake Turkana? view

The first thing is with regard to its title. It is entitled: “Coconut Bill.” Many of us who are familiar know that there is the coconut and then there is the palm. The palm has been used for many years to produce palm oil. We have used palm oil from Malaysia and other countries. This is not covered under this Bill. • 15 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, that is a very important point. On the issue of the board, we see nowhere where the Bill says that the board is part-time. But when it comes to remuneration, it is stated that the Salaries and Remuneration Board will look at the issue of remuneration. What has happened over time is that we have set up boards and people have decided to become full time board members. Actually, by doing that, they have taken over the job of the secretariat. • 9 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this particular hospital was renamed J.M. Memorial General Hospital. Likewise the New Nyanza General Hospital was renamed Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Memorial General Hospital. I want to ask the Assistant Minister when these names are going to be formalized and the names of the hospitals effectively changed. view
• 9 Aug 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, clearly, the Assistant Minister is grasping straws. Would it be in order for me to ask if he could come back with a comprehensive answer? Perhaps, he was not ready for the comprehensive request that hon. Samoei put to him. It is very important to us. So, would I be in order to ask that we ask him to come back to us, after having done his research, to give an answer that is based on facts? view
