  • 13 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Kshs138,000 for 10 villages, payable by cheque to certain bank accounts for supply of transformers. Allegedly, the transformers are to be installed in ten (10) villages per constituency, as selected by Members of Parliament. They have also come up with an agreement which will pay Kshs744,000 as way leave per village and that will be payable to the Member of Parliament. I have the document here. I have made efforts to contact the company to confirm the authenticity of the claimants - I have their names - because as far as we know, the Last Mile Connectivity Project, which is ... view
  • 1 Mar 2018 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I have a statement on the Kenya Power and Lighting Company. I wish to inform the House that there has been an attempt to defraud me and probably other colleagues by persons claiming to be officers of the Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) working under the initiative titled “The Last Mile Connectivity Project.” These fraudsters have been asking us for a payment of Kshs13,800 per village, which translates to Kshs138,000 for 10 villages, payable by cheque to certain bank accounts for supply of view

  • 27 Feb 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. Hon. Kamanda took away a big percentage of our NG-CDF money and misled us to believe that he was to put the money into road construction in our constituencies. view

  • 13 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, matters to do with sugar have to do with cartels. I stand to support the rationalisation regarding the licensing of new sugar factories. However, the problem with them is that they are, as one of my colleagues said, a front for cartels. I am aware that at this moment thousands of tonnes of sugar have been illegally imported into the country and they have been transported by some politicians who may be governors. Nearly 600 lorries of sugar have been imported. The sugar factories themselves are cartels of sugar barons. The people who suffer are my ... view
  • 13 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: The basic problem in the sugar industry is that our sugar industry is very unproductive. Whereas in some other states like in South East Asia they harvest cane twice in 18 months, our sugarcane farmers harvest once. The sugar content in the sugarcane in those countries is double the amount of that found in ours. So, the problem is also the sugar content. The sugar boards are corrupt. They have been together with the sugar cartels. There are roads that were meant to be repaired using the Sugar Levy Fund, money given to sugar factories but the factories use the ... view
  • 13 Dec 2017 in National Assembly: We discovered that billions of shillings were lost at Mumias. For some reason, it faded out. I know the Government has given Mumias Kshs1.2 billion which is not going to help anybody. The Government needs to recover money from the factories that have swallowed all that money. Some of these guys are here. We know them. We know how many billions of shillings they have spent. We want that money recovered. The President says that his Government would go after corrupt people. Let us start with the sugar factories. Let us make sure that the sugar factories that have squandered ... view
