  • 30 Oct 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I rise on a point of order just to reinforce what the leader of the opposition has said. I was in yesterday’s meeting too, and we had a very cordial meeting between the ODM and Wiper parties. The gibbering that has been going on in the Lower House was there even before they decided to table these names in the Lower House. Actually, it clear that the Media did The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. A certified version of this Report can be obtained from ... view
  • 30 Oct 2013 in Senate: Bi.
  • 29 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as we appreciate the Statement given by the Chairman, he should also note that he has talked about 45 vendors being allocated the duties of distribution of the set top boxes. Could he tell us who they are and what the rationale for the selection was? view
  • 29 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, maybe Sen. Kagwe did not see the gist of my question as regards the skewed contracting and skewed benefits of such a monopoly of distribution of such a national exercise. I still demand that we are told who the distributors so chosen are. I also would want to add another question that he confirms that the pricing of the set top boxes will actually be controlled and not dependent on the economics of supply and demand. I can see a situation where the demand will rise to a peak level and prices will escalate. We want protection. view
  • 24 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, it is not even over 10 years when this country witnessed a saga in the name of Anglo Leasing. • 24 Oct 2013 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. I know that you are a very wise person in this House and you make very bold moves. I tried to interrogate this issue the other day, but got a piece of the “fair arm of the Speaker.” Would I be in order to thank the Deputy Speaker, the Senate Minority Leader and everybody else who has seen what I had seen with regard to the decisions related to the Constitution? view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, as I congratulate and thank you for ably representing us in South Africa, would I be in order to request that you shed more light on what is happening between us and the National Assembly on matters of nomination of members of the Senate to the Pan African Legislative Assembly? view
  • 23 Oct 2013 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you for reminding others that the Minority also needs to be recognized as a constitutional right. As I verily support this Motion as brought to us by Sen. Muthama, it is good to remember a few facts. First, I agree with the Majority Leader that insecurity can lead to reduction of production in agriculture. That is a fact and that is why we complain seriously when the Jubilee Government fails in that. I want to remember that support to agricultural production has been skewed by hitherto governments to areas that were considered to be “right”. We ... view
