Thank you, hon. Speaker Sir. Pursuant to Standing Order No. 44(2)(c), I wish to request a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations regarding the issue of discrimination in the recent Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) recruitment exercise. The just concluded recruitment of KDF officers appeared to contravene Article 27 of the Constitution with regard to discrimination. One of the divisions in Marakwet West Constituency, Kapchorel Division, was denied a chance to participate in the recruitment by the recruiting officers without any reason being given for the exclusion of its youth from applying for the ...

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I rise to support this timely Motion. The Free Primary Education (FPE) is ten years old this year and the amount the Government allocated has stagnated at Kshs1020.00, while the prices of commodities have gone up more than ten times. Therefore, I rise to support the Motion and thank the Mover. First, public schools within urban centres and upcountry are congested because of the FPE programme. who are running the schools can afford to employee more teachers because they charge reasonable school fees. Actually they charge enough to provide quality education. So, we are urging the Government to increase the amount for capitation. We need to pass this Motion so that it moves to the next stage. We need to convert it into a Bill so that the Government releases the money. We do not have to beg or urge the Government. It is a requirement or a right for the children of Kenya. I urge the Mover of the Motion, as soon as we approve ...

Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Motion. This Motion is timely. I know the Jubilee Government policy is to have, at least, one technical training institute in each county and one technology centre of excellence in each of the counties. For that to be achieved, I believe that the fund is going to assist the youth. We know that if you cannot transit from primary school to secondary school, it is because of lack of school fees. If we set aside the funds â the 1% of our revenue â to assist the youth to ...
