  • 31 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, secondly, the Fund will help reduce insecurity. As one of the Members has said, when our youth complete Standard Eight after sitting the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and are unable to proceed to secondary school, they idle around, get drunk and eventually involve themselves in insecurity. They steal because there is nothing else to do. However, they will be active if they join colleges and youth polytechnics. They will get some skills and do some work to generate money for themselves. view
  • 31 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: In order for us to achieve Vision 2030, we need to do something for the youth so that they can also contribute meaningfully to our GDP by working on the ground. This Fund will also help create employment for our youth. We know that 65 per cent of our population is below 35 years. Those who are between 14 years and 35 years are about 50 per cent. This is the group that would have left Standard Eight and there is nothing they do. In order for them to be busy doing some work, we need to set up the ... view
  • 10 Jul 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to take this opportunity to thank hon. Bowen for this Motion, which is actually overdue. I remember 15 years ago, when we had only Kenya Posts and Telecommunication Company (KPTC) supplying services to the country; we had a penetration of 300,000. We want to assist Kenya Power to wake up by ensuring that there is competition. Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I ... view
  • 5 Jun 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Deputy Speaker. I want to rise and support this Motion. I want to take this opportunity to thank Hon. Wakhungu for this Motion which is timely but long overdue. I am an ex-NCPB employee. I worked there 20 years ago. At that time, the mandate of NCPB was not to distribute fertilizer. I want to support the setting up of a fertilizer board for two or three reasons. One, it will help the farmers because we will have fertilizer on time and the prices will be affordable. I believe the price of fertilizer should not go beyond ... view

  • 2 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. My name is William Kisang and I am the Member for Marakwet West. I wish to support this Motion, but before that I would like to take this opportunity to thank the people of Marakwet West for giving me this opportunity to represent them in this Eleventh Parliament. I want to support the Motion for the following reasons: In the recent past, there have been a lot of cases of insecurity in Marakwet West. More than ten people have been killed. I am just from home from attending a burial of a 28 ... view
