  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: asked the Minister of State for National Heritage and Culture:- (a) whether he is aware that under the new Constitution, museums will fall under the County Government; and, (b) when he will introduce a Bill in Parliament to realign the functions of the National Museums of Kenya in view of provisions of Part II Section 4(g) of the Fourth Schedule to the Constitution. view
  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the people of Kenya voted overwhelmingly for the new Constitution mainly because they wanted to take care of their local affairs through their duly elected leaders. Unfortunately, for Lamu, due to the world heritage status, the National Museums of Kenya has usurped the role of the county council presently and it is our fear that it will also usurp the role of the county governments in these matters. When will the Bill come to free us from authority of unelected body corporations based in Nairobi and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) sitting in ... view
  • 26 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister assure us that whenever he sends delegations to the UNESCO, he will include some elected representatives of the people of Lamu because he has sold the heritage of our children and made it world heritage without compensating our children? view
  • 20 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, this problem is not just in Juja, but even in Lamu, we are losing people to hippopotamus, snake bites and so on. The process of making claims for compensation is very long and the amount paid is very small. What action is the Assistant Minister taking to make the processing of claims more efficient? He should also consider raising the amount of compensation. view
  • 20 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, although I have not received a copy of the written answer, I beg to ask Question No.1584. view
  • 20 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. view
  • 20 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, if it is true that the money set aside for roads is Kshs200 billion, and we divide it per constituency we should get an average of Kshs1 billion. If it is divided per county we should get about Kshs4 billion per county. Is the Assistant Minister satisfied that the Government is being fair to these marginalized areas? view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, students who are studying courses such as medicine and those who are pursuing their studies in institutions which are domiciled in countries other than Kenya incur costs which are much higher than the average students in Kenya. What measures is the Assistant Minister taking to accommodate the needs of such students? These are the students studying in institutions overseas and those pursuing courses such as medicine. What about “boom?” view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. Could the Assistant Minister clarify which pounds he is referring to; Kenyan pounds or British pounds? view
