  • 23 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I am already privy to the matter which involves displacement of people by salt manufactures in his Magarini Constituency. I wish that he could give me about two and a half weeks. view
  • 23 May 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I understand and I really sympathise with the situation. This is not just a matter of telling the people to stop doing it. But we have to get records so that we are able to bring things that are acceptable to the people who are being view
  • 25 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Speaker, Sir. Some people may wonder why my name means a goat, but it is mine. At least I have caught your eye. I wish to congratulate you very sincerely for being elected the Speaker of the National Assembly. I congratulate your deputy for making history by being the first lady to be Deputy Speaker of this House. view
  • 25 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, besides that I should also thank the Tharaka people for allowing me to serve them in the two republics – the one before the promulgation of the Constitution and the second one after the promulgation it. It is a great honour that they have bestowed upon me. May I also congratulate the Procedure and House Rules Committee for the good job that they have done; they even sat into late at night. It is, therefore, my wish--- Let me request the Committee on Procedure and House Rules, that they, probably, try to align the departmental committees to the current structure of the Government, so that there are no problems when the committees are performing their duties. I will give an example. The Departmental Committee on Trade is grouped with Foreign Affairs, but in our committees it is grouped with finance, trade and commerce. Therefore, it is ... view

  • 3 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this matter also came to this House yesterday and it was raised by a Member of your panel who is also a Member of your Committee. This is a matter that we have been following very closely. We have done a report and the only thing that is remaining is the adoption. We thought we would do it in the morning but it looks like the clerks delayed with the report. We have been shuttling from the office of the Clerk to the other but I think this is a matter that I should be able to ... view
  • 4 Oct 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise to seek your indulgence on a matter that was referred to a Joint Committee of Finance, Trade and Planning, and the Committee on Implementation, to deal with the issue of re-opening of Charterhouse Bank. The Joint Committee was directed to complete its work within 14 days and present its Report to the House today. Unfortunately, although we have made tremendous progress, we have not been able to call some of the main players in that particular line. Therefore, the Joint Committee is requesting that it be given an extension of about 10 other days from ... view
