  • 1 Sep 2021 in National Assembly: Lastly, allow me to ask those in the Executive not to use this House or committees of this House to sanitise and cleanse their deeds or misdeeds in Government. If you want to offer information on the Speaker, I think you should bring a petition, a Motion, a Question or a Request for a Statement before this House and we will then be able to inquire on things relating to anyone. Thank you, Hon. Speaker. view
  • 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you Hon. Speaker, I am being directed by the Leader of Majority Party emeritus to apologise profusely for coming late. • 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order No.44(2)(c), I seek a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Defence and Foreign Relations regarding issuance of visas to Kenyans wishing to travel to the People’s Republic of China. It is more than a year since many countries closed their borders to foreign visitors following the COVID-19 outbreak and thereafter issued new entry requirements and policies. In addition, various countries continued to revise their COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control measures from time to time including the rules modulating how foreign visitors enter their countries and under what circumstances. ... view

  • 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I beg your indulgence for two reasons. One, the Chair of the Committee is the one moving the Motion, not the respective Members. Two, if you remember, post-2015, after the amendment of the NG-CDF Act, Members of Parliament ceased being patrons of the CDF committees in their respective constituencies. I see a danger if as a House, we now start resolving that we cannot transact business to do with membership of a CDF committee because the Member representing that constituency is not in the House. Reason is simple: By the time these names arrive on this Floor, they ... view
  • 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: present. You can see many of the Members are from western Kenya. I want to be the devil’s advocate. They may have begun their recess. view
  • 19 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, I said I want to be the devil’s advocate in this particular matter, but the way you frame it makes me look like I am advocating for the real devil. I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ. I am only trying to be fair to the Members who might have travelled in advance to Homa Bay. You know they are very busy, just like those who are busy in Mombasa. Those of us who represent the ‘hustler nation’, because we know we represent the people, we are always here. view
  • 12 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Pursuant to the provisions of Standing Order 44(2)(c), I rise to request for a Statement from the Chairperson of the Departmental Committee on Administration and National Security concerning the illegal arrest and detention of one Mr. Harun Aydin, a Turkish national and businessperson. Hon. Speaker, on 7th August, 2021, police officers arrested one Mr. Harun Aydin, a Turkish national, at Wilson Airport in Nairobi upon his arrival from a trip to the Republic of Uganda. He was said to have been part of a delegation that included the Deputy President of the Republic of Kenya. Additionally, ... view
  • 12 Aug 2021 in National Assembly: c) What specific issues led to Mr. Aydin leaving the country and was the departure voluntary or not, and why was he asked to leave? d) Why was he not charged before a court of law despite being held in detention illegally for over 48 hours in contravention of our own Constitution, all international conventions and the rule of law that govern this country? e) What has the Government done so far to reassure the Turkish Government and its people? Turkey is our first hand trading partner with billions of Kenya shillings in trade between the two countries, especially in ... view
