  • 17 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, mine is not a point of order! That is because what we are discussing is not in court. What we are after is the issue of corruption. Many years ago, when that property was bought, we were privy to the information. If you look at the title deed--- view
  • 16 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I thought you are speaking in English, a language the hon. Assistant Minister understands. You said that Questions by Private Notice are to be answered within 48 hours and the Assistant Minister is insisting on answering it on Thursday next week. What are you supposed to do with the Assistant Minister? view
  • 16 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this company has been buying fuel from Kisumu while it is situated in Mumias. There are petrol stations in Mumias which sell the petrol at a lower price than the ones in Kisumu. Clearly, corruption manifests itself in many ways. Gone are the days when people would be transferred just because they have stolen from this side to go to the other side to continue stealing. Is the Assistant Minister convinced that he does not need to institute investigations into this issue? The issue of asking the Chief Executive Officer to come and see him is not ... view
  • 16 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir,. First, let me thank my colleague and namesake. Originally, people thought this was a political Ministry but I am sure my brother will prove them wrong. Just going by the vision of the Ministry, that will tell you a lot of things to come. If I may read it: "The vision of the Ministry is to develop Nairobi metro area into a world class metropolis". I think that is an A+. Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, that said, there are a lot of challenges and more so to the public and it is ... view
  • 15 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Assistant Minister explain to this House the rates at which IPPs are selling power to us? How many years have they been signed for? Could he produce the contract documents for verification? view
  • 15 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Mr. Speaker, Sir. The Chair has ruled, on very many occasions, that the answers from the Ministers should be brief and precise. They should not be speeches. The Minister is reading a speech to us! view
  • 10 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I beg to ask the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that hippos have caused havoc in Syokisinga Village of Katangi Division of Yatta Constituency? (b) What action is the Minister taking to avert the hippo menace in the area? (c) Could the Minister consider compensating farmers for loss of crops caused by the hippos? view
  • 10 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I want to thank the Assistant Minister for that good answer. Indeed, I have confirmed that his officers are on the ground in that particular village. However, there is a serious famine in that part of my constituency. My people have no problem with helping the Ministry to reduce the number of hippos. Apparently, hippos are very delicious. Could he consider allowing my people to slaughter a few hippos since there is a serious famine and he is not compensating them for the loss of their crops and property? view
  • 10 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, just to inform the Assistant Minister, there is also a serious problem of hippos in another village called Mamba in Ndalani of Yatta Division. Nevertheless, what plans has the Government put in place to deal with the issue of monkeys along Thika and Athi rivers? view
  • 9 Jul 2008 in National Assembly: asked the Minister for Forestry and Wildlife the following Question by Private Notice. (a) Is the Minister aware that hippos have caused havoc in Syokisinga Village of Katangi Division in Yatta Constituency? (b) What action is the Minister taking to avert the hippo menace in the area? (c) Could the Minister consider compensating farmers for loss of crops caused by the hippos? view
