  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I also want to add to the point that even if you have retired as a politician and you are active again, there is nothing wrong with that. You are active because you still want to contribute in your retirement. Those who retire are consultants. They can be consulted on issues and can provide advice. They are still active in politics. view
  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: I have seen retired people in this country being given new positions or being appointed as chairmen of certain parastatals. Many of them, their names come here for vetting and for appointment. So, to me there is nothing wrong with being active even after you have retired because your services are still required or needed by the nation. To me, that is a right and let it be that we want to consult even those who retire. We should not discriminate against them. view
  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Finally, I want to say that it is in this country where you find senior citizens suffer the way they do. If you travel abroad you will find that retired people or senior citizens are treated very well. They have special rates for their transport system and are looked after. They also get some income from the government. Retired people are treated very well as compared to what we do to our leaders in this country. view
  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: I support what my colleague, the Member for Rarieda said that we need to look at these people as heroes of this country. We need to work towards rewarding other people other than the ones who are here. They have worked very hard and they need to be rewarded and recognized. They must be part and parcel of the heroes that our children will read about and find as role models. view

  • 11 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: I want to look at this Report as an educationist and believe that space technology or space science has not been well developed in this country. That is because we are still a very young country as compared to other countries abroad. However, this is a good opportunity for this country to benefit from space science. Some of the universities that we have today are struggling to come up with space science departments and courses, where our students can learn something about space. It is surprising that for 50 years, a space institution like this one has never been in ... view
  • 4 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity to contribute to the Motion. I support the Motion because alcoholism has now become a national disaster. It is very sad that people who drink and go through alcoholism are not young people alone. I used to associate alcoholism with young and jobless people who are idle, and who just want to take alcohol, so that they can pass time. However, even adults now are victims. Alcoholism is breaking homes. Many people are dying. Many more people are breaking their families. You find adults and young people sleeping on ... view
  • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, thank you for giving me this opportunity. I want to support this Bill because it is a very important one, coming at this time when Kenya is going through industrialization. At this time, there are many problems; we are in a country full of trauma; a country that has experienced terrorism, bomb blasts everywhere. We have seen road accidents. • 30 Apr 2014 in National Assembly: long-term illnesses like HIV/AIDS and cancer. These people need counseling because they need to cope with the lives that they lead. It is not very easy most of the time; it is a very emotional time; this is the time most of your friends run away from you. This is the time when people feel stigmatized. They are alone and suffering. They need great counseling to make them live longer. view
