  • 7 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I do not know whether the Assistant Minister is aware of the commitment that was done by the former Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education. I particularly invited the Permanent Secretary and he accompanied me to those projects. One in particular, that is Kahuhia Girls High School, was under- funded. Could the Assistant Minister give us an account of how much each project is going to receive in the next financial year, in order to be complete? If he is not aware, could he consult his officers, because the former Permanent Secretary committed that the Ministry ... view
  • 5 Jun 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, first of all, the Assistant Minister may have made a mistake by calling our crops “commodities” for export. Any crop that we grow in this country, and which has a market anywhere in the world, can be exported there. However, if the Ministry is not ready to support the growth of the crop, what policy has the Government come up with, so that the farmers who are growing this crop do not waste their energy and resources on the crop? Miraa is not only grown in Meru but also in Embu, Mbeere and Murang’a counties. view

  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, while the Minister could be excused for having taken the docket recently, could he, when he is tabling the report, be specific and indicate how much money was allocated for each market? Could he also indicate how much has been spent and let us know, as a House, whether they have budgeted for completion of these markets? The report may only give information about what was done and may not have actually requested for more funding. Could the Minister provide that information as well? view
  • 30 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the answer given by the Assistant Minister is very interesting. OCPDs are not recruited. It is the junior staff who are promoted. Is he telling us that they do not have qualified and adequate junior officers that the Ministry could promote? The day before yesterday, I attended a meeting in Nyeri to discuss abuse of alcohol and other drugs. One of the issues that was raised is security and deployment of security officers in the province. While he says that he does not have enough OCPDs, I disagree with him because those are not posts ... view

  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: I want to inform the Minister. view
  • 29 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister has repeatedly stated that his Ministry is distributing these cuttings to Western Province. What arrangements does he have to distribute the cuttings to other areas that would plant the cassava in regard to food security especially in the lower parts of Murang’a County, particularly Kiharu Constituency? view
  • 24 May 2012 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, while we appreciate the answer given by the Assistant Minister, there has been a programme by the Government to give boreholes to other dry areas. Could he tell us whether there is a policy, or programme, to provide boreholes to other areas like Kiharu East, where we do not receive adequate rain? Is there a policy or programme, to cater for the entire country? view
