Thank you, Hon Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity to contribute to this very important Bill. The Companies Bill, 2015, is very important. It has taken a lot of time, but it is a Bill whose time has come. As you are aware, the process of amending the relevant Act has taken over 20 years for us to get to where we are today. Many stakeholders have been involved in the long process of coming up with this Bill. The law that we are using at the moment is very old. It is like the one that was used by ...

there have been many changes and reforms. So, this Bill has taken into consideration the changes in the commercial sector. By coming up with this Bill in terms of amending the Companies Act, Cap 486, we are coming to terms with the realities of the moment by clarifying the various issues regarding the formation, management and operations of our commercial entities. This Bill is very important because companies, to a larger extent, manage our wealth. So, making it easy to register companies and defining the various types of companies that we can have is a good thing. The Bill also ...

our companies which are involved in production should not transfer their inefficiencies to the consumers. This brings about healthy competition and the need for proper capitalisation and space, so that at the end of the day, there is proper flow of capital from within. With those few remarks, I support the Bill.

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I rise to support this Session Paper and also the recommendations of the Committee. This is a very important Sessional Paper given the fact that it gives the guidelines as far as training and industrial attachment is concerned. This should have been developed earlier before we came up with the Bill, which I think is now an Act - the Kenya Qualifications Framework - which gives guidelines. It also recognizes the importance of qualifications of the individual, both formal and informal. There are some people who have gone through ...

Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Is it in order for a Member of this House to mislead the nation that Prof. Kaimenyi has been involved in impropriety in as far as the laptop procurement is concerned given the fact that the question of procurement of the laptops is a matter that is pending in a court of law?

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for this opportunity. I support this Bill. As Kenyans, we need to look at our value system and what we prize as people. This thing is not about laws. In as much as we have very many good laws, they are not followed as they should be. Even for citizens, the problem starts at home levels. What can save this country from this scourge of corruption is everybody taking responsibility for who we are as a people. It is for us to take responsibility as a people of this country and train our children ...

Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Bill. I also take this opportunity to say that the President should look at his advisers because I believe they are not advising him properly. The advice they are giving him and the money we are appropriating here are not commensurate because he is continuously doing certain things that do not appear to be right. This includes the process that we are involved in. I support the Bill.
