  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I support this Bill and encourage our leaders who have retired to accept retirement and live in dignity. I appeal to some of our great leaders when they make utterances in retirement, they should look at the big picture of the country and respect other leaders. That is because if you do not respect others, when you have an opportunity, you will receive the same lack of respect. So, with those remarks, I support the Bill. We need to move ahead and include all the people who have participated in this. view
  • 18 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Once you come to this House you become unemployable and so, at the end of the day, if there is no support mechanism, then in the attempt to provide services to people, your life is messed up. We need to consider this because it is important. view

  • 11 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I rise to support this Report and thank our Speaker for allowing it back. I also thank hon. Otichilo. He has tirelessly worked on this. It is high time, as a country, we take care of our resources. This nation is rich in resources. It has facilities, like the one which we are discussing here - San Marco. It has been there for almost 50 years. Although we have a good relationship with Italians, it is tilted to their favor. So, sometimes, somebody can give a token and the token should not blind us ... view
  • 11 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: If it is a fact that the Italian Government has not met its commitment in terms of training and personnel, how come we can be marginalized in our own country? In terms of employment, we are told that within the senior managers, we have only two Kenyans while the rest are from Italy. For all these years, they have not been able to build even the capacity of our local scientists and our own people against the earlier agreement. This is a sure reason why we should have change. When those negotiations are done; when we have that agreement, it ... view
  • 10 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker. I rise to support these proposed budget allocations. Some of the proposals that have been given are quite good, for example, what has been proposed in terms of agriculture and transformation. We know that any country that is unable to feed its own people cannot claim to be independent. First of all, we should be able to feed ourselves. As we speak now, several parts of this country are being faced with imminent drought. There are so many households going without meals. • 10 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: tragic, indeed. We have a beautiful country and we can do more. There are proposals already and I only hope that they will be implemented, so that we have in place more dams which will assist in the development of an agriculture system that relies on irrigation. There is money that has been allocated in the Budget for security purposes. That is very important. We all know that without security, we cannot really go far. Leaders must know that matters security are matters for every individual. Everybody must take responsibility for whatever he or she utters or does. The messages ... view

  • 10 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: that crop. Now that we passed the Report on miraa, I believe that the recommendations will be followed. We will then make decisions from that point. With regard to issues that are facing the country at the moment, some of them could be addressed through this Budget. When people talk about national dialogue, it is not enough just to talk! Rather, it is enough to come up with proposals. That should not be done just to keep individuals relevant, but for the purpose of taking this country forward. There is nothing that has changed in this country for the last ... view
  • 4 Jun 2014 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, I rise to support this Report. It is important to note that as, I stand here, I represent the largest number of miraa growers in this Republic. In my constituency, majority of the people depend on miraa. I am also a view
