Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this chance. First of all I want to thank the Mover of the Motion, Hon. Duale, who is the Member for Garissa Township, which is the headquarters of Garissa County where I come from, and the chair of the roads committee. Roads network is very important for a country’s development. The current Government, which was also in power for the last five years, together with the Kibaki Government, did a lot of work in road development in this country. No doubt, I can attest that the amount of investment that has ...

and took away a lot of lives and caused a lot of injuries. This is because of the poor state of roads. That also contributes to healthcare mobility. If you go to Kenyatta National Hospital and you visit the orthopaedic ward, you will find that it is overcrowded because of trauma and fractures. And this is attributable to the state of roads. A good road network also contributes to security. For example, in Dadaab Constituency where I come from, the road from Garissa-Dadaab-Liboi to the border is earth road. I think it is the only road of its kind in ...

Thank you, very much Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker for giving me a chance to contribute to this Motion. Before I do so, first I want to condole with the family of Dr. Wahome Gakuru, the Nyeri Governor, who passed on yesterday in a tragic road accident. We condole with the people of Nyeri. I do this on my own behalf, the people of Dadaab and Garissa County as a whole. On the issue of this Motion, from the outset, I support it. Personally, I know Hon. Daniel Wanyama, Hon. Rehema Dida and Hon. Mwadime. I know that the three Members ...

Member which include funerals and weddings. When Members lose in an election, most of them are literally reduced to paupers. I have seen Members of Parliament who are really desperate. Sometimes they do not even have medical covers and have spent their lifetime savings trying to retain their seats during elections. The moment they lose their seats, they are forgotten. As for the pension scheme, Members who are appointed should swing into action immediately and start their work, so that those who do not come back to this House for whatever reason or those who may have lost their lives ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me the opportunity. I represent Dadaab Constituency which is currently hosting refugees and I have a lot of interest in this Bill. From the outset, I fully support the Bill. Our country Kenya has hosted refugees for the last 25 years, if not more. What Kenya has given to the refugees is far greater than what has been given by the international community in terms of shelter, food, land, peace and everything that we have provided. It is far bigger than the contribution of the entire international humanitarian contribution. I ...

Thank you very much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I will take note of that and I will do what I can to speak more often. As we go for this short recess, it is very welcome because currently, the exams for Standard Eight students in primary school will start next week. Some of us are parents who have children doing the exams. Some of us also have candidates in Form Four. Although it is said that we will not be able to access them during this term for those who are in boarding schools, it will be an opportunity to join ...

they have managed to take them away from us. The terrorists are celebrating that they have them somewhere near Kismayu. They have also taken away a lot of ammunition which they intend to use when they come back. We want to know from the concerned Ministry what it costs to have a tracking device installed on security vehicles operating along border areas. What does it cost to have an armoury built for security officers so that arms do not end up in the hands of terrorists? What does it cost to have networks available so that in some places, we ...
