Naibu Spika, kwa kunipa fursa kuunga mkono Ardhihali ambayo imeletwa Bungeni na Julius Wairiuku Wanjohi kuhusiana na kutotekelezwa kwa maazimio ya kuwaajiri wafanyikazi katika Kaunti ya Nyeri. Bw. Naibu Spika, ni masikitiko kwamba ni miaka 10 sasa na hao wafanyikazi hawajaandikwa kazi na Kaunti ya Nyeri. Kama tunavyojua, stimulus package ilikwisha, Serikali za kaunti zikaanza kazi na hawa wakasahaulika kabisa kutokana na utepetevu wa Serikali ya Kaunti ya Nyeri. • 24 May 2023 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I beg to give Notice of the following Motion - THAT, AWARE THAT rapid urbanization, as experienced in most Kenyan towns contributes to a significant portion of greenhouse gas emissions leading to environmental degradation; FURTHER AWARE THAT factors associated with urbanization, including changes to a more sedentary lifestyle, diet and environment have resulted in an increase in the prevalence of non-communicable diseases such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and cancer; APPRECIATING THAT prioritizing sustainability and environmental responsibility creates liveable, healthy and resilient communities for present and future generations; NOW THEREFORE, the Senate urges the: view

Hili swala la wakaazi wa Ukunda ambao ardhi yao ilichukuliwa kwa sababu ya upanuzi wa uwanja wa ndege wa Ukunda ni swala ambalo limekuwa donda sugu. • 23 May 2023 in Senate: Swala hilo ni kwamba tunapita mipaka ya sheria kwa sababu sheria inasema ya kwamba, maswala ya kutathmini, yaani valuation, ni swala ambalo litafanywa na NLC. Ikiwa Rais wa nchi atasema ya kwamba ameikataza NLC wakati sheria inairuhusu NLC ifanye kazi hiyo, ina maana ya kwamba anaingilia kazi za tume huru katika nchi yetu ya Kenya. Tunaomba NLC iharakishe ulipaji wa watu hawa na sehemu yoyote nyinyine ambayo ardhi imechukuliwa na watu hawajalipwa, walipwe kwa haraka. Hata hivyo, tunapinga vikali kauli ya Rais kusema ya kwamba NLC hawataweza tena kutathmini ardhi ambazo zinachukuliwa kwa miradi ya Serikali. Asante, Bw. Spika. view

• 23 May 2023 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, the honourable Senator for Nandi is misleading the House in saying that the counties are going to get Kshs425 billion in conditional grants. What the Division of Revenue Act (DORA) says is that the counties are going to share Kshs385.425 billion. There was nothing like Kshs425 billion in the DORA that was passed by this House and assented to by the President, I think three weeks ago. Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir. view
