  • 30 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Clause 10 allows for registered referendum committees to appoint one agent to each polling station. This is a good amendment. We did not have that before. It will go a long way to help manage a referendum, in case, we have one. Our Constitution now allows for a referendum. view
  • 30 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Clause 13 intends to insert a new section 38 to require that a number of voters per polling station in a general election shall not exceed 700. We have noticed, particularly in our constituencies that, sometimes, there are so many registered voters in a polling station such that it is not easy to give them ample time to vote. Sometimes, there are long queues from 6.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. Reducing the number of voters in a polling station would go a long way in managing and making sure that rigging does not happen. This clause will take care of ... view
  • 8 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I also rise to support the Petition that has been brought by Hon. Lelelit. It is time we looked at the various parcels of land that have been taken by the army in this country. In the case of the Samburu land, the communities were not consulted. This is the case and yet a lot of land in the North of Samburu has been given to the army for their use. As leaders of those communities, we feel we need that land because many public utility facilities have been built in that area. I urge the ... view
  • 7 Jun 2016 in National Assembly: Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman, do not be carried away by the politics of Narok. I support the Chairperson in rejecting this. I do not see the reason the Senate wants to increase the number of years. Thank you. view

  • 3 May 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Chairman of the Departmental Committee on Energy, Communication and Information for doing a good job on this Bill. For a long time, we have not had laws that regulate minerals and oil exploration in our country. This Bill will go a long way in putting things straight. I want to thank our friends from Turkana County for bringing in good amendments that will help our communities, particularly the pastoralist who still have land that is thought to have oil. With the few amendments brought forward, ... view
  • 19 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairlady. I support the amendment. This is a very important definition of how a community can reserve their land. This will bring to an end to cases where people force a community to throw away their land. I support. Thank you. view
  • 12 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity to contribute to this Bill. First of all, I would like to thank Hon. Wesley Korir, Hon. Langat and the Committee for doing a good job. Most of us who have been in this House have seen Hon. Wesley Korir pushing this Bill so that it can be passed. As one of the athletes, Hon. Korir has seen that doping is affecting our athletes in this country. view
