  • 12 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: This Bill will help our athletes. They will not cheat. Athletes are very important in Kenya and there is need to bring some order in sports. This Bill will do that. It is also important to note that this Bill talks about our athletes’ health. Some of the Members have spoken about the need to stop foreigners from cheating our children that if they use these prohibited substances, they will be faster than they are. view
  • 12 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: Sports have contributed a lot to the Kenyan economy. We earn a lot of foreign exchange when our athletes win. They bring a lot of money. • 12 Apr 2016 in National Assembly: All of us are proud of them when we see them out there raising our flag. We do not want them to be ruined simply because of cheating. This Bill has established the Anti-Doping Agency which has its own functions. One of the functions is to promote participation in sports which is free from doping in order to protect the health and wellbeing of competitors and the rights of all persons who take part in sports. This is very important. The other issue is creating awareness in order to discourage the practise of doping among the public and, in particular, ... view
  • 30 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker. I also rise to support the Motion. This is a straightforward Motion which seeks to ensure that those who have been issued with waiting cards are given an opportunity to register as voters. The issue of identity card in this country has become a problem. The process is very tedious. Hon. Members will remember that the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government was the other day ranked number one in corruption; the reason being issuance of identity cards. Any youth who wants an identity card is made to part with something. The ... view

  • 30 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: I do not know what is wrong with our Members today. It seems like everybody wants to speak and the only way they can do that is by raising points of order. Allow me to debate this and then you will be allowed to say whatever you want to. Some of us who come from constituencies that are far, particularly those that are bordering other countries such as my constituency which borders Tanzania, it takes a year for someone to get an ID. If this Motion is passed today and the Committee on Implementation does its work, then the IEBC ... view
  • 23 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Deputy Speaker, for also giving me this opportunity to comment on the Motion that has been brought by Hon. Gladys Wanga. I rise to support the same and I want to congratulate my sister for thinking about this issue of cancer. Indeed, there is a rise in cancer patients as shown by the statistics that she read. I must admit that when we were growing up, we did not see cancer patients but lately it has become very common in our rural areas. Most of us, as leaders, are really concerned not just about training personnel but ... view
  • 23 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: We must try and see whether we can come up with an Act of Parliament so that we can force the Government to train these personnel. The same thing applies to our county governments. A lot of money is being wasted in our counties. We must also come up with ways of making sure that county governments train these personnel and provide for machines for treatment right at the source. With those very few remarks, I support. I ask my colleagues to support this Motion. view

  • 16 Mar 2016 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. I oppose this amendment because I do not see the rationale of limiting the number of times a board meets. If we want to control the allowances these people are going to be paid, the Chairman or the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) can do that. I think we should really oppose the amendment. Thank you. view
