  • 24 Mar 2015 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I truthfully value, honour and respect your ruling, but there is a serious matter here that requires to be addressed in the content of what the hon. Senator has said to this House. If it is not dealt with, it portents serious misleading of future debates. Did you hear what the Senator said? He said that if the likes of Donald Kipkorir, who has the same DNA with the Deputy President, is allowed to pass, then the judiciary is not going to be free. view
  • 24 Mar 2015 in Senate: Yes, he said that. Please, read the HANSARD. If you let that pass, what are we saying? That is a serious allegation. view
  • 24 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am not just about to offer myself as the second example because Sen. (Dr.) Khalwale would certainly fail the test if he was to even try me. Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, before I sit I want to you to make a determination or a ruling. It is known in this country that when an appointment is made, one of the requirements is not to go for a DNA test. It is wrong to draw a parallel line that because so and so carries the DNA of so and so, they are not fit for appointment. view
  • 11 Mar 2015 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I wish to take this opportunity to also welcome the Moroccan delegation. The relationship between our country and Morocco requires strengthening. We have had a strong relationship both in trade and diplomatic relations. This visit by the delegation from Morocco is an indication that this relationship will grow into greater heights. We are sure that most of us want to open more opportunities in Morocco. I welcome them and also urge our Members and the entire country at large that when we have an opportunity, Morocco is a good place to go to. view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I also equally condemn the heinous crime that was committed against innocent Kenyans in Mandera. In the history of all the times that there have been murders or even confrontation by jihadists or criminals, I have never seen a time when any one would shoot women. They let the women lie on their bellies with their hands at their backs and shot them at point blank range. Those people have no description. They are criminals of the lowest calibre and you cannot even start to describe them as religious fighters. They have no place in this world. ... view
  • 25 Nov 2014 in Senate: On a point of order, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Is the Senator for Machakos County in order to mislead this country and this House knowing very well that this country has got a Constitution and a constitutional process through which office bearers are appointed to offices? All those people he has mentioned were appointed through a legitimate constitutional process. Is it in order for Sen. Muthama--- view
  • 19 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Life is so fickle and death is such a thief. Death steals from battle grounds, poor families and from a House of Parliament like this one and takes away gallant leaders and contributors of debate with content and quality like our departed brother, Sen. Kajwang. I want to condole with the late Sen. Kajwang’s family in a very special way. I see a paradox of--- About one year ago when I was a new Senator, I happened to take a flight from Mombasa to Nairobi with the late Sen. Kajwang. As we embarked on ... view
  • 2 Oct 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I rise to support this Motion and convey my empathy with Sen. Dullo who represents Isiolo County and women in this Senate. I also sympathize and empathize with the entire country. We promulgated the new Constitution in 2010 on the platform that we were going to have a new system of devolution which we believe in as a people. The reason we voted for the Constitution is because of devolution. Let me say without fear of contradiction, that devolution has now become the theatre of the absurd. Literally speaking, devolution is headed to the ICU. If ... view
  • 30 Sep 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I rise under Standing Order No.45(2)(b) to seek a statement from the Chairperson of the Committee on Roads and Transportation regarding the southern-bypass link to Kikuyu Town. In the statement, I would like the Chairperson to address the following issues:- (i) whether he is aware of the change of the original design of the by-pass at the Kikuyu town stretch by the current contractor thereby blocking the original entry lane into Kikuyu Town centre that was there in the old Kawangware-Dagoretti-Kikuyu Road; (ii) whether he is aware of the complains raised by the business community, residents and ... view
