  • 15 May 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir. I want to agree with my colleagues who have said that we need to appreciate that over 80 per cent of Kenya’s land mass is actually arid and semi-arid. The main economic activity in these ASAL areas is livestock rearing. That is what actually constitutes family income and food security. It is important to note that the livestock subsector earns the country substantial foreign exchange through export of live animals, hides and skins, dairy products and raw materials for the agro industry. This subsector has continually faced major challenges. In my view, this ... view

  • 25 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Speaker, Sir. Given that we have prosecuted this Motion exhaustively and hon. Members are becoming repetitive, I beg that under Standing Order No.95(1) that the Mover be called upon to reply. view
  • 25 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Hon. Speaker, Sir, I thank my brother for donating that one minute to me. Let me congratulate you and the Deputy Speaker for being elected in your respective positions. I also want to thank my constituents for having elected me to serve them a second time. This Motion is timely especially for those of us who come from rural constituencies. We have a disturbing experience with regard to medical attention given to our people. We have fewer medical facilities. We have no drugs. We have inadequate medical staff and there is rampant lack of transport. I appeal to the Government ... view
  • 24 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: Thank you, hon. Speaker, Sir. While I appreciate the Statement given by the Leader of the Majority Party with regard to insecurity in Garissa, insecurity is not only confined to that county. The situation in Baragoi is equally bad. The Chair is aware that last year we lost over 40 security personnel and 20 Kenya Police Reservists due to insecurity. I would like to know from the Leader of the Majority Party what plans the Government has to ensure that it contains insecurity in Baragoi and the entire Samburu County. view
  • 24 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, Hon. Deputy Speaker. I believe the Chair is aware that when the Leader of the Minority Party was on his feet, he promised that he was going to take ten minutes to enable other hon. Members to contribute, today being the last allotted day. Could he, therefore, give us that opportunity? view
  • 24 Apr 2013 in National Assembly: On a point of order, hon. Speaker, Sir. Is it in order for a Member to interrupt a Member who is making her Maiden Address? view
  • 8 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, police officers are trained and know when to use firearms in their self-defence. Why could the police not immobilize without the intention of shooting these people to kill? view
  • 3 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, in his answer, the Assistant Minister said that the Government is conducting security operations to flush out aliens, more specifically those ones who are not registered as refugees. Could he tell the House how many such aliens have been arrested and what action the Government has taken so far? view
  • 2 Jan 2013 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, could the Minister confirm that the increase in the killing of wildlife is as a result of lack of compensation or low compensation given to the people who are either killed or injured by wildlife? view
