  • 20 Nov 2014 in Senate: However, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I would like to give the undertaking to the House that this matter will be delivered to the Chair and I will advise him, if possible, to have this matter resolved before Thursday next week. view

  • 20 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. I am happy that you have allowed me to make a statement on this matter which I find to be very important for this country, especially at this time. Every morning when you read the newspapers, there is a story of some people having been killed either by thugs or by the police. This is a very involving matter, whereas, we stand here and make casual statements about our security in this country because it appears that that is the only thing we must do and forget. I am not so sure that those ... view
  • 20 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I am not so sure that a police officer or any other person would want to have the kind of criminality that is taking place today. All of us would want to be protected. Police officers are in danger of being eliminated by criminals. The criminals are facing the same problem. In fact, it is by the grace of God that we are all here and surviving. We can claim that we are protected, but it may take a minute for us to realize that we are not, especially now that we are facing international criminals, ... view
  • 19 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, being almost the last person to speak to this very bad news, I will take a very short time. A lot has been said about our friend, Sen. Kajwang, and I do not think whether there is anybody else who will bring new information on what we have heard about him. Those who have worked with him, especially in Parliament like me, know him very well. The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only. • 13 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Speaker, Sir, I thought we will be given more time to talk about this Motion. Some Members were lucky to talk for almost an hour while others are going to speak for five minutes. If you look at this Motion very clearly or carefully, in my view, it is seeking or requesting the entire public of Kenya and all the institutions to adhere to the Constitution. There is nothing else that we are after. This Motion is not seeking for any support or additional power from anybody. We want to be where we are. This is because we know ... view
  • 13 Nov 2014 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I rise to support this Report because I also participated in the Committee. • 12 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, all of us are equal in the eyes of the law. Therefore, we all need protection whether you are in the Opposition, from Turkana or Pokot. What I am failing to understand is: When we stand here, we talk of what is happening. When are we going to talk of what should be done? We just keep on saying; the President this or that and so and so did this or that. It is a repetition. What I suggest is that, if or when we are in a position to deal with the problem when it ... view
  • 5 Nov 2014 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker. This is a very straight forward Motion although it is stressing more on private practitioners and doctors without talking of the services. You can have very good doctors or personnel, but they may not have facilities that will give them the ability to do what they are supposed to do. The issue of services ought to have been part of this Motion. If doctors are leaving the county governments to go to private hospitals, personally I have no problem with that. The reason for them to find opportunities in private hospitals is because of the ... view
