I request the Chairperson to make the following clarifications:- (i) Explain the extent of destruction on the property. • 20 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir. Likewise, I want to support this petition. I look at it as a petition that is affecting many other counties. We have about 22 counties which have boundary disputes, in form of alteration and people disputing the acreage in their various counties. If I heard clearly, the prayer in this petition is for peace to prevail. That sentence is exactly what is causing the conflict in northern Kenya and the Rift Valley. • 19 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Temporary Speaker, Sir, I join my colleagues in sending my condolences following the death of Sen. Kajwang. I have known Sen. Kajwang for the last 18 years. I first knew him when we got into the campaigns around the time when FORD broke up. I joined FORD-K at that time and was elected in 1997 to represent Turkana North. He was also elected into Parliament to represent Mbita Constituency. We have had a good time as politicians. We would visit each other and travel across the country. • 6 Nov 2014 in Senate: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I want to join my colleague by expressing our concerns as the Senate that matters of IDP in this country have not been dealt with in a manner that seeks to finalise it. Turkana County was also affected as per the database. There are so many IDPs who have not been compensated; those who were supposed to benefit from the shelter programme, four houses which were constructed in four locations have not been completed. view

That is one area the Government has not done a good job. In Turkana, in five locations, IDPs are still staying in shelters while the houses are incomplete. I want to challenge the Chair, who is also my Chair in the Committee for Labour and Social Welfare, to get a comprehensive report for the whole country so that we can understand what is happening and when this matter will be dealt with finality. view
