  • 13 Sep 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, I stand to support this Motion, that Sen. Outa joins the Committee on Health. I have served with him in the Committee on National Cohesion, Equal Opportunity and Regional Integration where you also sit and I have seen his commitment and passion in serving. Health is an important sector. We all know that many of our counties have suffered in the past. For example, in Marsabit County where I come from, we now have referral hospitals where many people receive good services, thanks to devolution. However, the problem is that the country is pumping a lot of ... view
  • 12 Sep 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, as I stand, with your permission, I congratulate the ladies who have passed an important message. I also join you in welcoming the members of staff of counties who are here with us. I would like to tell them that by coming, they are strengthening our relationship and partnership with the counties. I just want to give them assurance that the Senate is always there for them and we are always ready to support them. As I finish, they should also know that many things are happening in counties. They need to protect the integrity and accountability ... view
  • 8 Aug 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to join you in welcoming the students from Makini School. I am glad that we have these young men and women and our future leaders with us. Makini School is well known and we are proud of the school together with all the teachers and the support team who are there. My prayer is that you will grow up with the mind of having one nation under one God. I know Dr. Okello, who is a church canon like me. She has invested a lot in education and is a good role ... view
  • 7 Aug 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me also to give my condolences to the affected families. It is a very sad thing that has happened. As a mother, I feel sad together with the Senator from that county. It has become a tradition for us that every holiday, April, August and December, we lose many of our children, which is a very sad thing. There is need for us, as Senators, to speak in one voice so that NTSA can put proper measures in place to provide safety on the roads. There is also need for the drivers not ... view
  • 7 Aug 2018 in Senate: Madam Temporary Speaker, thank you for allowing me to stand and add my voice to this very important Report. As I begin, I congratulate the Committee whose names of Members have been well captured in the Report. I congratulate especially the Chair who has portrayed very good leadership skills and has also shown that he is a bold leader. Many times when people are faced with challenges like that, they give up. The cowards always run away but I congratulate our brother because we are proud of what he has done. I was not here when he tabled the Report ... view
  • 17 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to add my voice to this important Bill. I also want to thank my brother, Sen. Olekina, for thinking about others who have given their time and sacrificed all their lives for this nation. When we look at our nation and see the people who have served us faithfully, most of the time you sympathize with them. Sometimes, we talk about those who have served before us, who are now old and keep coming to Parliament to have lunch or tea with other Members, because they have nothing to hold on to. ... view
  • 11 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Speaker, Sir, for allowing me to add my voice to this very important Statement. I also want to congratulate Sen. (Prof.) Ekal, for bringing it to the House. Mr. Speaker, Sir, for those of us who were born and brought up in Northern Kenya, this is something that we are used to. However, the unfortunate bit of it is that our grandchildren are going through the same experience. I remember that when we were young, when we went to school, we were never sure of coming back home and meeting our dads simply because anything could happen ... view
  • 10 Jul 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir. I stand to add my voice on this important Statement and also thank Sen. Chebeni for bringing it to the House. The state of emergency medical care in Kenya is extremely bad and we, as leaders, feel embarrassed when we see what is happening on the ground. • 21 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Madam Temporary Speaker, for allowing me to resume my contribution to this important and historical Motion on the Senate sittings outside Nairobi. We know very well that at the grassroots, people have a lot of expectation on Senators. The only way that we can be relevant to the people and demonstrate to them our good leadership is by going to the people and demonstrating or giving them quality service while we are there. I support this Motion because it will give us the opportunity to demonstrate our leadership style. Many people in different counties have different challenges because ... view
  • 20 Jun 2018 in Senate: Thank you, Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, I stand to add my voice on this important issue that is affecting all Kenyans. Because of time, I will not go into a lot of details. We, as a nation, have lost a lot of credibility. Before we were known as corrupt people; now we have no moral values. We are killing our own people. Yesterday I watched our colleagues in the National Assembly debating on this issue and they almost The electronic version of the Senate Hansard Report is for information purposes only.
