  • 22 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the security situation is very bad everywhere. In the rural areas, members of the communities do not sleep until 2.00 a.m., when they know that the criminals have gone. Sometimes back, the Assistant Minister promised to post Administration Police (AP) officers to chiefs' camps in the rural areas, to improve the insecurity situation. A chief was killed in Kangema the other day. If that chief had some APs with him, the criminals who killed him could have been gunned down. When is he going to post APs to all chiefs' camps in the country, and ... view
  • 22 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Temporary Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Assistant Minister says they will start issuing licences to new electrical contractors from January. • 9 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, this a very lucrative business, because we can see very many breakdowns on the streets of Nairobi and other towns in Kenya. Could the Assistant Minister 3554 PARLIAMENTARY DEBATES November 9, 2006 tell us how much money the Government has received in Nairobi from towing of vehicles? view
  • 9 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, sometimes these breakdowns damage people's vehicles. Could the police use the system which is applied by the Nairobi City Council, to clamp these vehicles wherever they are, instead of towing them to the police stations? view
  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, while we appreciate what the Minister for Energy is doing, there are a lot of issues to be raised still. Power supplied to tea factories in Kisii is not enough. Itumbi Tea Factory is a new one, but it cannot crush a lot of tea unless they use a generator which is now proving to be expensive for the farmers. They spend about Kshs50,000 per day when using the generator. What is the Ministry going to do to ensure that there is enough supply to assist the farmers to crush the tea? view
  • 8 Nov 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, while we appreciate what the Ministry is doing, very few Kenyans can afford to pay Kshs31,500 for installation of meters. Could the Minister allow those willing to be connected to electricity to pay this amount in instalments? In this way, many people will afford power. view
  • 31 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Speaker, Sir, Mr. Omwenga was a civil servant who was working for the Government. In the last 15 years, the dependants of Mr. Omwenga have been living in agony. How much has the Ministry prepared as the final dues for Mr. Omwenga to pay to his beneficiaries? view
  • 19 Oct 2006 in National Assembly: Mr. Deputy Speaker, Sir, the Ministry has done very well but there are areas where they have not satisfied customers. Some customers pay a deposit in order to be supplied with electricity. What is the Minister doing to make sure that the money which was deposited in those accounts is earning interest and that the contractors who have been given jobs move to the sites to complete their work on time? view
