  • 15 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Speaker, for giving me this opportunity. I want to speak on the second Petition. I concur with the Member for Laikipia North for her concern on the killings. We condemn the killing of innocent people, destruction of private property as well as stealing of livestock from people who are innocent and unarmed. We neighbour Laikipia from the north. Just as my colleague has said, drought is what drives people to look for pasture and water. They go there not because they want to, but because of that need. The best thing we can do is ... view

  • 2 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. I rise to support. I support because I have read the Committee’s Report. Stephen Kirogo has experience that is required. Despite people saying that his age is advanced, age can also provide a wealth of experience. Having worked in northern Kenya and even Lamu, Nakuru and West Pokot, some of us who come from those regions yearn to get people who are in the Civil Service who know Kenya. Most of the time when you go to offices, you find some senior Kenyans who are holding high positions but do not know where West Pokot, Turkana ... view
  • 2 Aug 2018 in National Assembly: On the issue of counties, the sentiments that were raised by the Leader of the Majority Party are not about Garissa only, rather, this is happening all over the country. People are employed on clan and tribal basis and on grounds of nepotism. The Public Service Commission (PSC) should intervene. It is a policy maker. It can assist in directing the county public service boards to ensure that people who live there, even the minorities, benefit. There are marginalised communities within the counties. People who did not vote for a governor are normally ignored or left out when it comes ... view
  • 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you so much, Hon. Deputy Speaker. Just as my colleagues have said, Uber is very good for the public. One thing is that the taxis are cheap, clean because they are brand new, pocket friendly and safe. You can reach anywhere without any problem. view
  • 25 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Secondly, when we were using the old taxis, we could be charged any amount of money and sometimes we were taken to the wrong direction, especially for ladies. Ladies fear to travel by old taxis. These ones are digital. The moment you request for an Uber taxi, you know the driver’s name, number plate and where you are going. This is not only for Uber taxis but also Taxify. So, the competition is between Uber and Taxify taxis. view

  • 24 Jul 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Speaker. Hon. Speaker, I support the second Petition on land. Land is a very emotive issue and Kenyans are really experiencing a lot of problems in terms of acquisition of documents for acquisition of land. We need to urge county governments and also the National Land Commission (NLC) to ensure that there is speedy allocation of land whenever people apply for it. Secondly, I also want to raise an issue on a Petition that I tabled in this House some time back on the social safety and protection for elderly disabled persons through the Committee. It The ... view

  • 13 Jun 2018 in National Assembly: Thank you, Hon. Temporary Deputy Chairman. My concern is about transmission. The Ministry of Energy has been discouraging. For the last four years, they have been telling us to submit recommendations and a list of where transmission can be done, but it is all in vain. I hope the money we are allocating the Ministry will be used to assist us to get new transmission of power in places like Samburu North and even in Maralal, where there is a blackout every week. The money should be used properly to ensure that we get supply of power in all parts ... view
